The gathering drew C-suite executives, investors, regulators, policymakers, and ecosystem players for a keynote address and panel discussion focused on a pressing question: what responsibility do Africa's financial institutions bear in the global climate transition — and how equipped are they to meet it?
Discussions centred on the obstacles slowing the shift to sustainable finance across the continent, including resource constraints, underdeveloped policy and legal frameworks, and a shortage of professionals with the technical expertise to drive green finance strategies. At the same time, participants explored the opportunities that emerging market trends present for banks and investors willing to embed sustainability principles into their core operations and investment decisions.
The event also examined how African financial institutions can more effectively manage climate-related risks on their balance sheets — moving beyond compliance and toward proactive integration of environmental considerations into lending, treasury, and asset management decisions.
A heartfelt thank you to all the guests who attended this noble discussion on climate & finance.
